Summary

This is a hands-on, technical Co-Op position for a motivated student artist interested in pursuing a career in 3D modeling and design. The successful candidate will work alongside senior 3D Artists to produce assets for a virtual environment that simulates real-world, geo-specific features. The ideal candidate performs productively in a fast-paced work environment, has great communication skills, works well independently and as part of a team, is passionate about their work and is eager to be part of a dynamic group of focused and creative individuals. The candidate must be willing to work assignments within agreed budgets and schedules. Solutions must be consistent with organizational processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in the design, development, and implementation of modeled assets in a collaborative environment
  • Creation of maintenance of 3D model asset databases
  • Creation of model textures, substance encoding, and model animations
  • Process documentation in a common knowledge repository
  • Status of work products and project progression


Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree (or higher level) college/university program majoring in Art or similar field, preferably with an emphasis on 3D modeling or similar computer aided design, and in your junior year or higher
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Experience in 3D Modeling, texturing and/or animation (coursework or personal interests/projects)
  • Proficiency using Modeling Tools (i.e. Creator, Maya, 3D StudioMax, Blender, MODO)
  • Must be willing to learn new procedures and applications
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Skills
  • A link to example work portfolio
  • Basic Linux command line familiarity
  • Character Modeling & Rigging
  • Experience using Substance Suite (Adobe Creative Suite a plus)
  • PBR texturing experience is a plus
  • Experience with Unreal Engine is a plus
  • Experience using Perforce (or similar version control software)
  • Programming experience is a plus


Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.


Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment
  • Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.
  • Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.
  • The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • This role requires the ability to maneuver body in/out of cockpits that contain sensitive equipment.
