- Define cloud hosting and connectivity approaches supporting enterprise users, system integrations, and deployed environments
- Document, propose, and evaluate solution design options, including tradeoffs across cost, performance, security, reliability, and delivery speed
- Establish reusable architecture patterns and standards across teams and vendors
Reliability, Security & Governance
- Drive reliability and performance practices, including scalability planning, resiliency patterns, disaster recovery strategies, and uptime targets
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to align architectures with Zero Trust principles, identity-based access, encryption, auditing, and continuous monitoring
- Establish and maintain cloud governance practices, including architecture review processes and technical standards
- Identify architecture risks early and communicate mitigation strategies to leadership
Modernization & DevSecOps Enablement
- Support legacy system modernization by designing transition architectures and phased migration roadmaps
- Develop and guide cloud migration strategies, including discovery, dependency mapping, landing zone readiness, wave planning, and cutover/rollback
- Guide DevSecOps platform architecture, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated compliance evidence, and environment promotion strategies
- Support Agile delivery teams by answering design questions and validating implementation decisions
Stakeholder Communication & Documentation
- Brief government and contractor leadership on cloud architecture decisions, risks, tradeoffs, and recommended courses of action
- Develop and maintain architecture documentation, including system context diagrams, deployment views, interface mappings, and DoDAF-aligned artifacts as required
- Translate technical architecture into clear, mission-relevant language for non-technical stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise infrastructure roles
- Demonstrated experience designing secure cloud or hybrid environments in regulated or compliance-driven organizations
- Experience modernizing legacy or monolithic systems into cloud-native architectures
- Strong understanding of networking, IAM, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and incident response
- Hands-on experience with DevSecOps concepts, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with DoD SDLC practices and architecture frameworks such as DoDAF
- Experience with at least one hyperscale cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments
- U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud architecture certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Security certifications (Security+, CISSP, CCSP)
- DevSecOps or automation certifications (Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools)
- Architecture or systems engineering certifications (TOGAF or equivalent)
- Agile or delivery framework certifications
