Are you ready to get in on the ground floor of Amazon's long-term initiative to design, launch and maintain a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world? It's Day 1 for Amazon's next billion-dollar business and the Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) business is looking for an experienced Finance Manager, to work in a start-up environment, who is passionate about technology, who thinks/acts globally, and has the ability to create and implement solutions, processes and controls with a focus on the public sector. The ALG team is focused on Government customers around the world, including U.S. DoD, state and local business, national security, and International Governments.
The successful candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, with an ability to build and articulate financial results and analytical insights to senior business and finance leaders. You will be familiar with managing and preparing financial analysis, critical to tracking the performance of the Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) contracts and overall business performance.
This role requires a self-starter with superb business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a track record of delivering results to the business. You will be analytical in approach, have a demonstrated ability to develop financial models that provide intelligence for business decisions and be able to leverage your leadership skills to drive business objectives.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead automation and adoption of critical pricing processes and rhythms including the ALG pricing tools
- Effectively build cross functional relationships with product, program management, and engineering; key to understanding the performance and direction of the business for modeling and analysis
- Complete pricing build-ups and cost volume responsibilities for RFPs, RFIs, and ROMs for the growing ALG business in a very ambiguous start-up environment
- Develop financial models for new business concepts and initiatives, and resulting financial impact to help drive data driven decision making including long range financial plans
- Develop, implement and report key financial and operating metrics and performance indicators to measure overall business performance, help develop the financials associated with internal and external review meetings and provide insights to finance and business leadership
- Prepare business case analysis to evaluate new ALG product offerings
- Export Control Requirement: Highly preferred for candidates to have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, so you must be a US citizen.

The Financial Strategy & Pricing Team serves as the strategic financial backbone for ALG. Our team of pricing and finance analysts drives long-term free cash flow growth through expert proposal development, pricing strategy, and business case analysis. We operate with controllership integrity while maintaining deep business partnership across ALG operations. Our mission is to empower data-driven decisions through insightful financial modeling, rapid pricing support, and end-to-end business understanding-delivering everything from complex deal structures to long-range planning with speed and excellence.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
- Experience communicating and presenting to senior leadership
- Experience working cross functionally across several teams
- Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities
- 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, or CMA or CPA
- Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel
- Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience with end-to-end project management, or experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Advanced Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python
- 5+ years of Space Vehicle/Satellite Operations, Space Communications or related industry experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
