The Electronic Systems (ES) sector spans the commercial and defense electronics markets with a broad portfolio of mission-critical electronic systems, including flight and engine controls; electronic warfare and night vision systems; surveillance and reconnaissance sensors; secure networked communications equipment; geospatial imagery intelligence products and systems; mission management; and power-and energy-management systems.

BAE Systems is seeking a Manager for the Operations Test organization at our Austin, Texas Manufacturing Hub. The Test Engineering Manager develops and maintains robust testing strategies that validate product functionality, reliability, and performance throughout the production lifecycle. This role leads the design, integration, and maintenance of test environments and systems for complex electronic and mechanical assemblies. The Test Engineering Manager works closely with hardware, design, and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot failures, optimize test sequences, and reduce cost while ensuring high product quality. The role also supports preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives in test environments. In this leadership role you be responsible for mentoring and developing a growing team consisting of engineers and technicians.
This is a first shift position working a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off!

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Design, validate, and maintain production test equipment and environments.
  • Troubleshoot and support complex testing issues in coordination with engineering teams.
  • Monitor quality and test performance data to identify inefficiencies and improve test coverage.
  • Develop rework plans and perform root cause and corrective action investigations (RCCA).
  • Streamline test processes by eliminating non-value-added steps and improving test throughput.
  • Support and train technicians on test procedures and equipment usage.
  • Implement COs and support engineering transitions related to test infrastructure.
  • Lead capital equipment projects and manage procurement and installation of new test systems.
  • Support equipment relocations, site transitions, and test system upgrades.
  • Represent test engineering in audits, CAB meetings, and customer review
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, accountability, ethics, policies and regulations


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance
  • 8+ years of professional test development and integration experience.
  • 3+ years of people management experience with emphasis on leadership presence
  • Hardware and Software Integration experience.
  • Experience with HW debug & troubleshooting.
  • Possess excellent communication skills including interpersonal communication and team communication, self-driven, and self-starter.
  • Proficiency in Object-oriented programming (C/C++/C# etc.)


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active Secret clearance
  • NI Test Software Tools: TestStand, LabWindows/CVI Software
  • Instrument Communication: Network analyzers, Spectrum analyzers, O-Scope etc.
  • Microwave/RF measurements: VSWR, Gain, Compression, Phase noise etc.
  • Proficiency in C# is desirable
  • Experience with the product life cycle development which consists of Requirements review, test plan creation, coding, integration of test SW with test stands, and sell-off to customers.
  • Experience following the test development processes.
  • Experience with HW debug & troubleshooting.
  • Leadership, mentorship, team collaboration, and technical interchange with customers.
  • Test automation

  • Experience with SW version control and bug tracking tools
  • Experience in supporting factory production test stands, debug, problem isolation, and resolution.

  • JTAG/Boundary project development in an ATE solution
  • Atlassian tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence)
  • Git and Tortoise Git


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $132962 - $226035

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
