Our client delivers advanced engineering solutions supporting mission-critical operations for the Department of Defense and aerospace programs. This role supports the Space Development Agency (SDA) Ground Mission Integration (GMI) effort-designing and integrating secure, scalable ground systems for resilient space capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Apply systems engineering principles across design, integration, verification, and validation of SDA ground systems.
  • Decompose mission and system requirements into architectures, interfaces, and behavioral models.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to evaluate technical issues, drive design decisions, and maintain configuration control of baseline artifacts.
  • Support review boards; prepare clear technical documentation (requirements, ICDs, verification plans, procedures).
  • Contribute to DevOps workflows and automation to improve integration and test efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM field and 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree plus 3 years.
  • Agile/Scaled Agile experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of systems engineering methods (requirements analysis, architecture, interfaces, V&V).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based microservice architectures; networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP); operating systems (Linux/Windows); and virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams.
Clearance Requirements
  • Department of Defense Top Secret clearance preferred at time of hire.
  • Applicants may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Skills & Experience

Domain Knowledge
  • Ground system design and/or scheduling
  • Tracking mission design
  • Satellite communications and ground-to-satellite links

Systems Design & Integration
  • Systems design, integration, and validation; requirements decomposition and system architecture

MBSE
  • Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools (e.g., Cameo/MagicDraw); building and maintaining models aligned to technical baseline

Programming & Tools
  • Familiarity with Java, Python, MATLAB for analysis, prototypes, and modeling

Cloud & Infrastructure
  • Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP; infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)

DevOps & Automation
  • Understanding of DevOps practices; tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef

Security & Compliance
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles; familiarity with NIST and ISO?27001 frameworks

Simulation & Modeling (Nice to Have)
  • Background with STK or similar tools for aerospace mission analysis

Collaboration
  • Strong cross-functional teamwork; ability to document designs, configurations, and procedures clearly
Workplace Options
