Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Software Engineer position that just opened in Manassas, VA. In this role, you will support the design, development, and implementation of advanced signal processing algorithms and software for undersea sensor systems. To be considered, you must have Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with minimum of 5 years of experience in DSP software development. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire.

Contract:12 months or longer
Pay: $64.21/hour
Shift: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms and software for undersea sensor applications.
  • Integrate DSP solutions into embedded systems in collaboration with hardware engineers and system architects.
  • Perform performance analysis and optimization to ensure efficient and reliable operation in underwater environments.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for DSP algorithms, software, and system designs.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and testing activities to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software and system issues related to DSP functionality.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay current with advancements in DSP techniques, tools, and industry trends relevant to undersea sensing technologies.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in DSP software development
  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages
  • Experience developing and optimizing digital signal processing algorithms
  • Strong knowledge of signal processing theory and techniques
  • Proficiency with MATLAB or similar tools for algorithm development and simulation
  • Familiarity with DSP hardware platforms and embedded system architectures
  • Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments


Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development
  • Prior work supporting submarine or surface ship sonar systems
  • Knowledge of underwater acoustics and sonar technologies
  • Exposure to machine learning or artificial intelligence applied to signal processing
  • Experience with oceanographic data analysis and modeling


Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in a related STEM field
  • Over 5 years of experience in DSP software development within defense or aerospace sectors
  • Clearance eligibility or active Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire


Other Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to security clearance requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • This role is fully on-site at the Manassas, VA facility, requiring physical presence


Clearance Requirements
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at the time of hire.
  • All selected candidates will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
