Job Description:
The Missile Propulsion CAD Services team at the Missile Solutions segment of L3Harris is currently seeking an experienced highly motivated Product Definition specialist that will be responsible for generating and verifying product definition supporting the design engineers across MSSL sites.
Provide design support and leadership to engineers on technical projects and/or products, maintaining, organizing, compiling, and manipulating technical data. Prepares PTC Creo CAD models and associative engineering drawings (product definition) using PTC Windchill PLM System. Performs mathematical calculations and simple tolerance analysis per engineering specifications. Recommends alternative design solutions to problems and obstacles. Checks engineering product definition for compliance and conformity to established standards, specifications, and design directives.
Essential Functions:
Under limited general direction and following established procedures in accordance with contractual requirements and L3Harris Missile Propulsion policy and procedures, this position performs engineering design assignments for preparation of engineering design documents and maintaining the design disclosure. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Assignments require broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty and excellent knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties, requiring a wide application of advanced principles, theories and concepts in the field plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $91,500 - $170,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $79,500 - $147,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. - Performs design Verification (checking) and calculations to validate design requirements.
- Will require Project leadership for the management of designs requiring tracking assignments, percent complete and drawing release schedules for specific design release packages.
- Create, check and maintain design product definition (Models & Drawings) for engineering designs. This includes, but is not limited to, preparation of design layouts and/or preliminary conceptual design layouts, as well as outsourced design project leadership.
- Provide technical guidance to less senior designers and to design support personnel. Provides data in support of Verification Metrics for design.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior design experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior design experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior design experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 10 years of experience with CAD systems (Creo 10 preferred) along with experience using CAD database management and PLM tools (Windchill preferred). Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical harnessing and packaging of Aerospace hardware required.
- Expert knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5). ASME Certification in GD&T is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret product definition and related specifications. Electronic markup tools and the ability to work paperless is required.
- Security Clearance preferred
- Knowledge of liquid and solid propulsion systems design and manufacturing methods is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
