The F-35 Weapons Flight Test Engineer leads the planning, execution, and analysis of weapon systems test campaigns for the F-35 Lightning II program at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Acting as a technical authority, the role coordinates with cross-functional teams (including flight test pilots, systems engineers, software developers, and program managers) to validate weapon integration performance, address anomalies, and deliver data that directly supports aircraft certification and sustainment. This role requires deep expertise in weapon system architecture, flight-test methodology, data-fusion, and F-35 mission systems, as well as proven leadership and mentorship abilities. As the F-35 Weapons systems engineer, duties include, but are not limited to:
- Test Planning and Management: Serve as the local subject matter expert (SME) and develop weapons test plans, schedules, and resource allocations for multiple F-35 variants requiring interface with the local ITF, Fort Worth SMEs, system vendors, COMSEC authorities, Mission Planning, and potentially other sites.
- Test Execution: Direct ground and flights test missions while serving as the lead weapons discipline engineer, interfacing with range personnel, maintenance, ordinance technicians, test operations, and other discipline engineers. Conduct procedural weapon system checkouts as well as provide remote or on-site support of troubleshooting efforts if issues arise.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Compile and analyze data from test events to produce comprehensive test reports and data packages to be presented to program leadership and the customer.

Basic Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering (Aeronautical/Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or other disciplines)
- Experience with ground/flight test of aircraft weapon systems
- 8+ years of related flight-test engineering experience
Desired Skills:
- 10+ years of experience with developmental or operational flight test
- Control room monitoring experience using IADS (Interactive Analysis and Display Systems)
- In-depth technical knowledge of MIL-STD-1553 and Universal Armament Interface (UAI)
- Strong oral and verbal communication skills
- Background/working knowledge in multiple
languages such as Python, Microsoft (VBA), SQL, Matlab

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $128,400 - $226,435. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
