Valiant is seeking skilled Polish/Ukrainian/Russian CAT II Linguists to provide interpretation, translation/transcription services in support of the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization).

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide comprehensive language services, including written translation, on-site interpretation services, and remote interpretation (e.g., via phone or video), covering both consecutive and simultaneous modes, as required, for military training.
  • Conduct Translation of military technical manuals, schematics, training guides, reports, and other training-related documents, correspondence, meeting minutes, etc.
  • Must be able to maintain a consistent and up-to-date style guide and glossary of military-specific terminology.
  • Translated documents shall be a faithful and accurate representation of the original source content, free from omissions, additions, or factual errors. Translations must convey the original meaning and intent precisely.
  • The Linguist must ensure the content of the translated documents is culturally sensitive and appropriate for the target audience.
  • Must ensure the translated text is idiomatically correct, culturally appropriate, and formatted to match the layout of the source document, where technically feasible.
  • Must adhere to a strict code of ethics, including maintaining absolute confidentiality regarding all information encountered during an assignment.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements

  • Must be a native speaker or possess a language certificate and 3 minimum years of professional translation and/or interpretation experience in a similar environment as a linguist.
  • Must demonstrate a strong understanding of the source text nuances and be able to effectively adapt the content for the target audience.
  • Must be able to provide consecutive Interpretation for small group discussions, one-on-one meetings, briefings, and classroom or field training sessions.
  • Must be able to provide simultaneous interpretation for large-scale lectures, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Must be professionally trained and demonstrate complete fluency in both the Source and Target languages and shall accurately and idiomatically render all messages without omissions, additions, or embellishments.
  • Must be punctual, arrive on time, and report to the physical location or reporting location to receive their assignment for the day and start their work with their assigned groups.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and be prepared for the subject matter of the engagement.
  • Must be mentally and physically fit for duties and endure the rigors of military training environments and work in active conflict zones. They shall be equipped for performing services in rough terrain training areas for extended periods of time.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain it is required.

Additional Requirements:
  • Fit for Duty - The selected candidate must undergo an extensive medical examination to be certified medically fit for duty in the work assignment location per NATO medical Standard. Similarly, the selected candidate must undergo a dental examination to be certified that there are no foreseen imminent dental issues. And the selected candidate must be vaccinated according to the required immunizations for the Area of Operation of the work assignment or able and willing to receive the required immunizations prior to deployment to the work assignment location.
  • Must complete and pass Mental and psychological requirements
  • Must have sufficient unaided hearing to perform duties safely, hear and wake up to emergency alarms unaided, and hear instructions in the absence of visual cues such as lip reading. If an applicant does not meet this requirement, Speech Recognition in Noise Test (SPRINT) or equivalent testing is required along with an approved waiver.
  • Must be able to work under stressful circumstances and meet short suspense dates.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be free of medical restrictions/ limitations that prevent the performance of required duties and/ or prevent the wearing and utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be physically capable of performing the work in conditions of extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain and blowing sand and dust.
  • May be required to work on uncommon hours of duty, extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
