Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Software Engineer

This role leads the design, development, and optimization of advanced DSP algorithms and embedded software for undersea sensor and sonar systems, supporting high-performance, real-time signal processing in challenging operational environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms and software for undersea sensor applications
- Implement DSP solutions in embedded, real-time systems
- Collaborate with hardware, embedded software, and systems engineers to integrate DSP functionality
- Perform performance analysis, profiling, and optimization to ensure reliable operation in undersea environments
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for DSP algorithms, software, and system implementations
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, integration testing, and verification
- Troubleshoot and resolve DSP software and system-level issues
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
- Stay current on DSP techniques, tools, and undersea sensor technologies
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline
- Master's degree may substitute for years of experience
- Clearance:
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required at time of hire
- Experience:
- 5+ years of DSP software development experience
- OR Master's degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience developing and optimizing DSP algorithms for sensor or signal processing systems
- Core Technical Skills:
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithm design and implementation
- C / C++ (embedded and performance-critical applications)
- MATLAB or similar tools for algorithm development and simulation
- Embedded DSP platforms and architectures
- Strong foundation in signal processing theory (filtering, detection, estimation, spectral analysis)
- Experience with undersea, acoustic, or sensor-based signal processing environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development
- Experience supporting sonar systems (submarine and/or surface ship)
- Knowledge of underwater acoustics and sonar signal processing
- Experience applying machine learning / AI techniques to signal processing problems
- Experience with oceanographic data analysis or modeling
- Experience working in Agile development environments
