Duties
Help
  • Fingerprint applicants and transmit fingerprints electronically using automated systems, ensuring fingerprints are acceptable.
  • Reconcile fingerprint transaction history reports ensuring acceptance of fingerprint records at investigating agency.
  • Review applicants' records to verify all necessary documents are present according to the requirements of each military service.
  • Distribute applicant enlistment record documents to appropriate organizations.
  • Ensure timely release of and accountability for processing records to the medical section, the services and external agencies for review.
  • Assist with the preparation of orders such as transportation and/or amendments to transportation orders, delayed entry program orders for active duty and Reserve personnel assigned to all branches of service.

  • This position may require the employee to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 6:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m.).
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position require to complete two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience applying a standardized body of military human resources rules, procedures, and operations concerning military personnel and enlistment process; fingerprinting; verifying documents, and record maintenance & accountability; experience using automation systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
