Senior Cybersecurity Support Lead

We're currently seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Support Lead to join our team in Norfolk, VA. In this role, you'll provide leadership and technical expertise in cybersecurity operations, vulnerability management, and compliance to ensure systems meet DoW standards and remain secure and mission-ready. This position is contingent upon contract award
Responsibilities:
• Lead and support cybersecurity operations and compliance initiatives across IT and network systems.
• Track, assess, and mitigate Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA/IAVB/IAVT) across Windows, Linux, and other systems.
• Conduct or participate in DoD compliance inspections and assessments.
• Support the DoD Assessment & Authorization (A&A) process, including preparation of documentation for RMF, accreditations, certifications, and approvals.
• Review and provide feedback on DoD cybersecurity documents, orders, and instructions.
• Utilize cybersecurity tools including HBSS, VRAM, eMASS, DADMS, and ACAS to monitor compliance and system security.
• Ensure cybersecurity system reporting is accurate and up to date.
• Develop, generate, maintain, and contribute to policies, procedures, and documentation for managed systems.
• Communicate and collaborate with auditors, program reviewers, and internal teams to facilitate compliance and issue resolution.
• Prepare clear reports and briefings for leadership on cybersecurity posture, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Support mission needs, which may include travel to other DoD or contractor facilities.
• Mentor and guide junior personnel, sharing best practices in cybersecurity operations and compliance.
This is a full-time onsite, salaried, exempt position.
Requirements:
• Proven experience in IT security, cybersecurity operations, and DoW cybersecurity compliance.
• Must meet certification requirements per DoW 8570.01M IAM Level III (or equivalent).
• 6-10 years of cybersecurity experience.
• Experience with Navy or DoW compliance inspections and cybersecurity operations.
• Knowledge of Windows, Linux, and other system vulnerabilities, risk management, and incident reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Familiarity with DoW policies and regulations (e.g., 8500, 5200) and ability to interpret and apply them in operational environments.
• Experience using cybersecurity tools including HBSS, VRAM, eMASS, DADMS, and ACAS.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active Secret clearance required (must be maintained).
Certifications:
At least one of the following certifications is required:
• CISSP
• CISM
This role may include travel to other DoW or contractor facilities in support of mission needs.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. Candidates must be eligible for a background investigation.
