The primary purpose of this position is to test, troubleshoot, inspect, modify and repair egress/jettison systems used on assigned aircraft; instruct reservists and other employees augmenting teams to accomplish repair, modification, removal or installation; serve as team leader of foregoing teams and accomplish operational tests of all components of said systems.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for WG-6600 - Armament Work Family.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6600 - Armament Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to use special and standard test equipment, gauges, and hand tools. Knowledge of a variety of technical data such as manufacturers handbooks and specifications, technical orders, operating instructions and special instructions relative to explosive or incendiary device and safety precautions related thereto.
2. Knowledge of egress and jettison systems used on assigned aircraft and the practices, methods, and processes necessary to test, troubleshoot, inspect, modify and repair them. Knowledge of shop mathematics. Practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles associated with egress and jettison systems.
3. Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, and blueprints. Knowledge of applicable personnel, manpower, time, and attendance, and budgeting instructions, guidelines, and requirements. Ability to follow budgeting directives, instructions, and procedures.
4. Ability to maintain good memory skills, good judgment, and ingenuity. Skill in mental application required to plan and lay out work, to maintain alertness and concentration, or to maintain a certain degree of muscular and visual coordination.
5. Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations and technical orders. Knowledge of tool, equipment, and materials accounting and security. Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work.
Conditions of Employment cont'd:
1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
2. This is an assignment to a PACAF unit which requires special handling.
3. Must be certified in egress/jettison systems work. Must also be recertified every 18 months.
4. Individual must possess a minimum of a SECRET security clearance based upon a National Agency Check (NAC) (or higher investigation) within the last 5 years to be eligible for Special Program Access upon arrival at gaining unit.
5. May be required to fly in military aircraft for TDY purposes.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Duties:
- Accomplishes scheduled inspections of egress systems. Using prescribed job guides and technical data which may require interpretation and or adaptation.
- Serves as organization technical expert in all matters regarding egress/jettison systems. Troubleshoots egress and jettison systems on operational aircraft and aircraft undergoing repair, overhaul, and modification.
- Performs operational (or simulated operational) tests of egress and canopy jettison systems to ensure proper operation of all components using canopy blow testers, specialized test gauges, and push/pull spring scales.
- Makes an operational or simulated operational test of egress systems ensuring that all components operate properly.
- Inspects all explosive devices and performs continuity test of all firing circuits on egress, jettison and canopy actuating systems of the aircraft.
