Position Title: Linux System Administrator

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

Description of Duties:

The Linux System Administrator supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

• Implement, troubleshoot, and sustain Linux based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space Center.

• Work closely with network engineers, system engineers, cybersecurity engineers, and additional system administrators, to provide high quality, innovative engineering services to the Government customer.

• Work with system engineers and Senior system administrators to identify and define requirements for new systems/system modifications, developing designs, and implementing and testing solutions.

• Work with cybersecurity engineers to conduct on-going vulnerability scanning and system patching, as necessary, to reduce cybersecurity risks.

• Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations.

• Work with Senior system administrators to develop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline configuration documentation.

• Be responsible for ensuring system software installs, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.

• Focus on creating, upgrading, managing and sustaining physical and virtual workstations and servers.

Qualifications - External

Basic Requirements:

• Must have 3, or more, years of directly related experience in relevant business systems, operating systems, and servers

• Must possess a strong understanding of Linux system administration concepts

• Must have, or obtain within 6 months of hire, a current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE or higher.

• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

This position is expected to pay $110,000 – $130,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
