Position Summary
Peraton is seeking a Logistics Specialist - Lead to support the Senior Logistics Manager in planning, directing, and managing daily material flow across the supply chain. This role oversees inventory, inbound and outbound shipments, transportation coordination, and team alignment to ensure operations are timely, cost-effective, and efficient.
The Logistics Lead serves as a key liaison between sales, procurement, customers, vendors, and carriers, using data-driven insights to improve performance and maintain adherence to program schedules and requirements.

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and manage daily logistics operations, including material flow, inventory control, and transportation activities.
- Oversee inbound and outbound shipments to ensure on-time and cost-effective delivery.
- Support development and maintenance of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) related to logistics activities.
- Coordinate across sales, procurement, customers, and internal teams to ensure supply chain alignment.
- Serve as primary point of contact for customers, vendors, and carriers regarding shipping, delivery, and logistics performance.
- Monitor logistics KPIs and performance metrics, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Lead problem-solving efforts related to shipment delays, inventory discrepancies, or transportation issues.
- Negotiate rates and manage performance of third-party logistics (3PL) providers and freight carriers.
- Identify process bottlenecks and implement Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to streamline shipping and receiving workflows.
- Ensure all logistics activities comply with customs regulations, DOT safety standards, and internal documentation requirements.
Qualifications

- Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
- Significant experience in logistics, supply chain operations, or material management in a complex environment.
- Proven leadership experience coordinating teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, transportation, and shipment coordination.
- Experience working with logistics schedules and supporting program timelines (IMS familiarity preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor and carrier relationships.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive performance improvements.
- Knowledge of logistics compliance requirements, including customs and DOT standards.
- Experience supporting government or large-scale technical programs.
- Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working with ERP, inventory management, or logistics tracking systems.
- Familiarity with international shipping and documentation requirements.
