Strategos is seeking a Small Craft Maintenance Technician Lead in pursuit of a government contract.
Performance Location: Stennis Space Center, MS
Hours of Work:
Contractors shall work no more than 80 hours over a two-week, which may include weeknights and/or weekends. Standard business hours are 0700-1800. Non-standard work hours may be required to support after hours operations.
Position Specific Tasks:
• Performs organizational- and intermediate-level maintenance and Depot Level overhaul on all types of internal combustion engines; performs preventive maintenance on auxiliary equipment and on small craft diesel engines, clutches, transmissions, and drive shafts for operational and logistical requirements for NAVSCIATTS. Performs tracking of maintenance schedules and workload. Review technical manuals, instructions, and specifications, providing recommendations for additions, deletions, and revisions. Provide timely input to specifications for any commercial maintenance or repair packages to ensure that all required repairs are accurately described.
• Ensure that all repairs are in accordance with specifications. If repairs are conducted that do not meet specifications, assist with generation and submittal of the required paperwork requesting permission from Naval Special Warfare Command (WARCOM) to operate the craft with these repairs in place until permanent repairs can be executed.
• Performs mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, and engine power head and lower unit overhauls on 2 and 4-stroke outboard engines ranging in size from 30 to 350 horsepower and 470 horsepower diesel engines, along with equipment trailers.
• Fabricates and fits tubing and flexible hose assemblies; monitor electrical charging and regulating systems; operate and maintain hydraulic equipment; control or minimize the effects of oil and fuel spills; and complete maintenance data system forms.
• Conducts preventive maintenance and repair 25-foot aluminum defender class Safe craft, 25-foot Fiberglass Boston Whaler, 11m RHIB, 38-foot aluminum defender class Safe craft, and aluminum hulled mud boat to include repairs and maintenance on gauges, navigation equipment, and communication equipment that is specially designed for Special Operation Commands.
• Performs organizational and intermediate level maintenance and overhauls on all types of internal combustion engines. Start and operate all types of internal combustion engines.
• Performs preventive maintenance on auxiliary equipment, 7.5 KW generators, and on small craft diesel engines, clutches, transmissions, and drive shafts.
• Overhauls internal combustion engines; adjust valves, injectors, control racks, governor, and governor-control linkages on diesel engines; check oil clearance in bearings; adjust and test diesel and gasoline engines; and operate and troubleshoot internal combustion engine blowers and turbochargers.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on different kinds of small craft and manage and schedule preventive maintenance workload.
• Conducts training in troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of craft.
• Tracks hours, fuel, and maintenance costs as well as training, for civilians and active-duty military, for each craft assigned to NAVSCIATTS.
• In coordination with the assigned Government representative, liaison between outboard engine, hulls, and trailer manufactures.
• Research and track repair parts for small craft.
• In coordination with the assigned Government representative, monitors warranties and submit claims for reimbursement of parts used on small craft from different manufactures.
• In coordination with the assigned Government representative, assist with maintaining a shop with all necessary tools and equipment and safety gear to perform maintenance and repair on small craft.
• Reviews all recurring engineering logs and records to identify potential trends and develop corrective action plans.
• Conducts periodic craft and engine inspections and ensure that all discrepancies are documented and repaired.
