Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 2 to lead a team within an Interfaces section of the Aerospace Vehicle and Systems Integration (AVSI) Directorate, Mission and Weapon System Engineering (MWSE) functional homeroom. This position requires the candidate to be ~100% on-site in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will join the Sentinel Program's System Engineering Team in the development of weapon system interfaces, requirement analysis, verification planning, and programmatic system engineering technical direction.
The selected candidate will be responsible for an Interfaces Section and will report directly to an SDS Systems Engineering Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of between 8 and 12 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects. As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on technical assignments supporting all four Interfaces teams, various IPTs and other segments, and working closely with senior leaders and customers. Other program responsibilities may include system architecture development, requirements development/management, requirement verification planning, system design/analysis, modeling & simulation, model-based systems engineering, IPT/product owner leadership, specialty engineering, or other appropriate technical functions.
The selected candidate will clearly demonstrate strong management skills and will have a track record as a motivated leader, an effective communicator, and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 8 years of related experience, or 6 years of related experience with a Master's degree in STEM.
• 1+ year of experience with Agile, JIRA, Confluence, DOORS or Cameo.
• 1+ year of experience in development and maintenance of Interface Control Modules
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
• 7+ years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment
• Advanced degree in engineering
• 1+ year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
• Active DOD Top Secret clearance, SAP, and/or SCI access
• 2+ years' experience leading teams in a functional, programmatic or technical capacity
• 1+ year experience creating program governance
• 3+ years' experience using CAD software (Siemens NX, Solid Edge, Solid Works, Pro/E etc)
• Solid understanding of the Systems Engineering and Integration and Test processes on the Sentinel Program with emphasis on interfaces.
Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $230,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
