QSSHire is partnering with a secure customer to identify a Mid-Level Systems Engineer to support and maintain application infrastructure across all networks in a secure, mission driven environment.
This role is ideal for a systems engineer with strong infrastructure experience who can provide hands-on support across operating systems, server administration, monitoring, and system security. The Systems Engineer will also provide technical support to ensure applications meet security compliance requirements, support implementation of technical precepts, and is contractually responsible to be on call 24/7.
In This Role, You’ll:
• Support and maintain application infrastructure across multiple networks and environments.
• Provide technical support to ensure systems and applications remain security compliant.
• Support implementation of technical precepts and engineering standards.
• Maintain 24/7 on-call support responsibilities as required by contract.
Key Responsibilities
• System Design & Implementation: Design, install, configure, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Monitoring & Maintenance: Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to ensure high availability.
• Security & Redundancy: Implement and maintain security measures, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts to automate tasks and improve system efficiency.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across hardware, software, and network components.
• Collaboration: Work closely with developers, management, and other teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Documentation: Create and maintain system documentation including architecture, procedures, and support processes.
• Technology Evaluation: Research and assess emerging technologies for upgrades or new implementations.
You’ll Succeed Here If You Have:
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) (required)
• Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Systems Engineer (or in a similar infrastructure-focused role)
• Strong understanding of:
o Network architecture
o Server administration
o Virtualization technologies
• Ability to support secure infrastructure environments and ensure compliance requirements are met
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex systems and support costbenefit analysis
• Excellent troubleshooting ability and proactive problem-solving mindset
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Bonus Points If You Have:
• Experience supporting application infrastructure in high-availability environments
• Experience supporting compliance efforts, security hardening, and system baselining
• Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
