Overview
We are seeking a Harvester HCI Engineer to design, operate, and support a Kubernetes-native hyperconverged infrastructure platform that unifies virtual machines and containerized workloads. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud-native platform engineering, leveraging Harvester, Kubernetes, and Rancher to deliver scalable, resilient environments.
This is a remote role open to engineers ranging from mid-level (4+ years) to senior-level (8+ years) experience, with responsibility and ownership aligned to experience level.

Overview
We are seeking a Harvester HCI Engineer to design, operate, and support a Kubernetes-native hyperconverged infrastructure platform that unifies virtual machines and containerized workloads. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud-native platform engineering, leveraging Harvester, Kubernetes, and Rancher to deliver scalable, resilient environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, operate, and maintain Harvester HCI clusters on bare-metal infrastructure
- Manage both VM-based and containerized workloads using Harvester's Kubernetes-native architecture
- Use Rancher for centralized cluster management, RBAC, lifecycle operations, and observability
- Support Kubernetes cluster operations, including upgrades, scaling, networking, and storage
- Work with KubeVirt to manage virtual machines running alongside container workloads
- Operate and troubleshoot distributed storage using Longhorn
- Partner with DevOps, Platform, and Application teams to support CI/CD pipelines and production workloads
- Identify and resolve issues across compute, storage, networking, and Kubernetes control planes
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using IaC and scripting where appropriate
- Create and maintain platform documentation, runbooks, and operational best practices
Required Skills
- 4+ years (mid-level) to 8+ years (senior-level) experience in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering
- Hands-on experience with Harvester HCI in lab, staging, or production environments
- Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes (cluster operations, workloads, networking, storage)
- Experience using Rancher for Kubernetes and infrastructure management
- Solid Linux systems administration experience
- Understanding of virtualization concepts (VM lifecycle, storage, networking)
- Experience supporting production workloads with high availability and reliability requirements
- Strong troubleshooting skills across distributed systems
Desired Skills
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- SUSE / Rancher / Harvester certifications
- Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
