Job Title: DevOps Engineer (Mid-Senior Level)
Location: San Antonio, TX (Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite per week)
Clearance: TS/SCI (U.S. Citizenship required)

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience OR

Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience OR

High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 9+ years of relevant experience
Salary

$100,172 - $130,000 annually: (Final offer based on experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and role alignment. Additional non-recurring compensation may apply.)

Overview

Metronome is seeking a highly motivated DevOps Engineer to support a fast-paced, mission-focused development environment. This role supports both cloud and edge infrastructure, emphasizing automation, scalability, and reliability across AWS and on-premise systems. The ideal candidate brings strong Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code experience, with exposure to big data environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, with a focus on EKS
  • Support deployment of non-cloud (edge) infrastructure, including on-premise and portable systems
  • Automate infrastructure and application deployment processes
  • Manage and maintain Kubernetes environments and AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into existing infrastructure
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production system issues
  • Continuously improve tooling, processes, reliability, and system performance
  • Stay current with emerging DevOps technologies and best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development
  • Strong AWS experience (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda)
  • Kubernetes and container orchestration expertise
  • Linux systems administration and troubleshooting
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible
  • CI/CD pipeline development and automation
  • Scripting and programming experience (Python, Bash, or Go)
  • Experience with application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management
  • Familiarity with Git, Flux, and modern DevOps toolchains
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
  • Ability to work onsite 2-3 days per week in a hybrid environment


Certifications (Preferred / Required)
  • Required: DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification (e.g., Security+)


Desired Skills

  • Experience with big data technologies such as:
    Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Diode, Terraform, and advanced EKS implementations
