Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2. This position is located in Roy, Utah.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
The Mechanical Engineering Manager position is a dual-hatted role that involves both individual contributions as a senior engineer in the Mechanical domain (80%), as well as people leadership in a functional management homeroom (20%).
As a contributing engineer, this position will lead the design of COTS hardware devices and assemblies of a ground-based command & control system in preparation for Critical Design Review. The position will be responsible for coordinating with design review stakeholders to mature the hardware baseline, and documenting designs in CPLM. The manager will help mature and tailor design processes and procedures on an EMD program to produce hardware designs of the highest quality and rigor. The manager will be expected to provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of junior engineers and foster a culture of strong technical rigor. As a functional manager, the position will manage a team of directly reporting engineers in the areas of career development, performance feedback, goal setting, training, and engagement. The manager will hold regular 1on1 meetings with their team members. The manager will be the primary liaison between their engineering staff and the full breadth of engagement, training, and benefit resources at Northrop Grumman.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

You'll Bring These Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM field plus 8 years of experience, or Master's Degree in STEM field plus 6 years of experience
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Siemens Teamcenter
- Experience working with requirements and translating into mechanical designs
- Experience in a technical leadership position
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Experience with CAD modeling standards, techniques, and tools (Siemens NX preferred)
- Experience with ICBM system design
- Experience with COTS hardware design and procurement
- Experience with Systems Engineering concepts and tools, including requirements management (DOORS) and MBSE (Cameo)
- Previous experience as an engineering manager
