As the Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel-powered fire suppression vehicles and equipment in support of fire and emergency response operations at Al Udeid Air Base. This role ensures all fire apparatus and related systems remain in a safe, reliable, and mission-ready condition in accordance with applicable regulations and manufacturer specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered fire suppression vehicles, including fire engines, crash trucks, pumpers, tankers, and support equipment
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brake systems, suspension, steering, and electrical systems
- Maintain and repair fire suppression systems, including pumps, valves, foam systems, and auxiliary power units
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with safety, operational, and manufacturer standards
- Identify mechanical deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
- Use diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues
- Accurately document maintenance actions, inspections, and repairs in maintenance management systems
- Coordinate with fire department personnel to ensure vehicle availability and readiness
- Maintain tools, shop equipment, and work areas in clean and safe conditions
- Adhere to all base safety policies, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures
- Provide technical support during emergency response situations as required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with fire apparatus, emergency vehicles, or heavy equipment
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty vehicles
- Experience working with fire suppression or airport rescue firefighting (ARFF) vehicles
- OEM certifications (e.g., Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, Allison Transmission)
- Prior overseas or military base experience
- Knowledge of NFPA standards related to fire apparatus maintenance
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License
- Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
- Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar
- Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
- Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
