Position Description:
We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program based in Fort Detrick, Maryland. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys working across the full application stack, contributing hands-on code while collaborating within an Agile environment to deliver secure, scalable, and user-focused solutions.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and enhance enterprise applications, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity standards, accessibility (508), and modern software engineering best practices. This position offers a hybrid work model, with onsite collaboration three days per week and expanded telework flexibility for high-performing candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and story sizing
• Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Java and modern front-end frameworks
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs supporting enterprise-scale systems
• Ensure code adheres to cybersecurity, design, accessibility (508), and style standards
• Produce clear technical documentation including design artifacts, unit tests, and code reviews
• Support product evaluations and contribute to continuous improvement of application features
• Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions
Required Skills & Education:
U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Secret clearance
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution. If the candidate does not have the required degree, 6 year’s experience in a related field in addition to one of the following current certifications are required: Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+, GSEC, FITSP-O, GFACT, CASP+, CCNP Security, or CCSP
Additional 4 years of experience with Full Stack Development, implementing and consuming RESTful APIs
At least 2 years experience working on an Agile team and following Agile processes SCRUM and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Solid Java 11+ skills and experience with EAP’s (JBoss/Wildfly) and/or SpringBoot
Experience in building front-end application using Angular and JavaScript
Experience using relational and/or NoSQL database systems
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience developing enterprise-scale applications
• Knowledge of Java EE design patterns and modern application architectures
• Familiarity with Angular/JavaScript design patterns
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS
• Scripting experience with Bash or PowerShell
• Python 3+ development experience
• Experience designing or supporting microservices architectures
