The Joint, Office of the Secretary of War, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of War (DoW), Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the DoW. These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSW(R&E)), Office of the Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSW(A&S)), DARPA, Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.

We have an immediate need for a Contested Logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide onsite support out of the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities

The Senior Official for Contested Logistics Technologies (LOG) seeks a Logistics Planner to lead the integration and policy direction to facilitate implementation of an AI-driven enterprise logistics planning tool. The ability to operate in a contested logistics environment will be critical to ensure the success of future military operations. The LOG Commercial Technology Area is focused on overcoming the challenges of disrupted and denied logistical pathways. This position places an emphasis on the ability to orchestrate department efforts to rapidly prototype and mature a comprehensive, AI-enabled planning tool to make predictive and dynamic real-time logistics decisions. D efine problems and develop and coordinate study/project plans. Document user needs, behaviors, skills, other attributes to inform system design and testing. Utilize mathematical and statistical techniques, systems engineering principles, and innovative approaches to develop new solutions to previously highlighted and/or new problems or problems which may be without precedent. Document use cases, work models, and benchmarks to facilitate product delivery. Collaborate with other work domain experts in the planning, design, development, and testing of new technologies. Prioritize user feedback and assist the team in driving usability and utility improvements. Draft test plans, conduct task analyses, and write evaluation protocols for usability research activities.

Qualifications

Required:
  • 10+ years of experience and a Master's degree or PhD in engineering, the physical sciences, supply chain management, or other related discipline.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with military logistics, managing the movement supply and maintenance of military materiel, facilities, and personnel.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with current military logistics planning tools such as JOPES, and critical sources of logistics data.
  • Knowledge of the principles of planning/program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and engineering disciplines used in support of sustainment, modification, and maintenance programs.
  • Demonstrated creativity and foresight by identifying, preparing, and presenting detailed technical reports and briefings on new concepts and technical directions impacting programs/projects, and defining future technology requirements.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Able to work fully onsite based on client needs.

  • Experience as a logistics planner.
  • Attention to detail, strong multitasking and time management skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - must be able to deliver high-quality reports and presentations to clients and sponsors.
