MITRE's Responsive Operational Planning Department in the Agile & Resilient Battle Management Division of the Air & Space Forces Center is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center's Kessel Run division (AFLCMC/C3C). The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Leader (PL) and with the sponsor's leadership, as well as the engineers from MITRE, the government, and other contractors to set the direction for the Command & Control Incident Management & Emergency Response Application (C2IMERA). The selected candidate will apply their deep technical background in software development and their background with wing operations to advise the sponsor and help them develop their roadmap for future development of the system.
Additionally, the candidate will provide technical leadership to help the government integrate C2IMERA into the Department of the Air Force's (DAF) Battle Network (DBN). The chosen candidate will guide program systems and software engineering including program planning, analysis and insight into subsystem and system design and integration, requirements flow-down, design performance, and cost trades. Deliver program strategy to consider cross-system integration and interoperability, and lessons learned from other programs.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice to the C2IMERA program manager in the Wing C2 Branch of Kessel Run on the future direction of the system.
- Work closely with the PL to lead and shape the work program as a critical member of the leadership team.
- Execute customer work shaping and engagement plans aligned with project and organizational goals.
- Provide objective solutions and recommendations to address customer challenges.
- Build and sustain a trusted relationship with the customer and key stakeholders.
- Lead technical teams to define and deliver high quality data-driven technical products and/or solutions with actionable recommendations for the sponsor.
- Communicate, written and verbally, with customer and MITRE on status of products in a concise, professional, and timely manner.
- Collaborate across MITRE, DoD, and external partners.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- An active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI access.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills with experience briefing VIPs.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple teams working on large and diverse projects.
- Passion for the Air Operations and Wing Command & Control mission.
- Proven track record in achieving significant work program, sponsor, or organizational outcomes.
- Strong track record of building sponsor trusted advisor relationships.
- This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of agile software development methodologies and DevSecOps processes
- Strong knowledge of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) concepts
- Familiarity with the MITRE Platforms
- Proven track record of innovation
- Familiarity with higher level AF and DoD strategy, particularly as it relates to all domain operations and data sharing.
