We are seeking a Senior Mission Engineer (Engineer, Systems III) to support the U.S. Navy at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Dahlgren Division (NSWC PHD) is part of the larger Naval Sea Systems Command.
The mission of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is to develop and deliver advanced weapon systems to deter and defeat adversaries, serving as the Navy's leading architect for complex naval warfare systems through research, development, testing, systems engineering, and integration for the Navy, Joint Forces, and the Nation. They focus on innovation in areas like directed energy, digital engineering, and combat systems to provide effective, affordable solutions for the future fleet.
Position Description:
The Senior Mission Engineer will support the U.S. Navy at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, part of the Naval Sea Systems Command. NSWCDD serves as the Navy's leading architect for complex naval warfare systems, delivering advanced combat capabilities through research, development, testing, systems engineering, and integration. The organization focuses on innovation in areas such as directed energy, digital engineering, and advanced combat systems to support the future fleet.
Work Location and Telework:
The government work location is Dahlgren, VA, and you may be required on base, or near the base, supporting the customer up to 5 days a week. You will be one of about 100 contractors supporting a Combat System Engineering focused contract and part of a 17 person Mission Engineering team. Some teleworking or work from the contractor's location may be possible with the customers' approval.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Senior Mission Engineer will provide Combat Systems and Mission Engineering support across the full systems engineering lifecycle for Naval Warfare Systems in accordance with the Defense Acquisition Guide. - AEGIS Combat Direction System support
- Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) systems engineering
- Land-Based Test and Training Site (LBTTS) planning and activation
- Operations and force analysis
- Enterprise systems engineering support
- Modeling and simulation
- Combat system virtualization (including U.S. Marine Corps applications)
- Foreign Military Sales (FMS) support
- Future surface Navy combat systems initiatives
This role requires independent execution of complex systems engineering tasks, including functional and system-level requirements analysis, requirements generation, and technical community coordination and review.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or a technical discipline
- Four years of demonstrated relevant technical knowledge and subject matter expertise
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with emphasis in one or more of the following:
- Combat Systems Cybersecurity
- Ship Self Defense System (SSDS)
- Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class
- AEGIS Integrated Combat Systems
- DDG-1000 Zumwalt-class destroyer
- Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense
- Weapon and sensor combat systems
- Demonstrated experience coordinating engineering development activities and executing complex systems engineering efforts independently
Preferred Qualifications/Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- Prior experience working at NSWC Dahlgren or NSWC Crane
Travel Requirements:
- Travel is not routinely required
- Occasional travel to Navy fleet-centric locations may occur
