Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automated cybersecurity and compliance solutions supporting programs aligned to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role focuses on automating security controls, compliance reporting, and continuous monitoring activities across enterprise and cloud environments-ensuring alignment with FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, and Security Authorization & Accreditation (SA&A) requirements. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of security engineering, compliance expertise, and automation capabilities, enabling the FAA to operate securely at scale while reducing manual effort and improving audit readiness.

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

In this position, you will:
- Design and implement cybersecurity automation solutions supporting continuous monitoring, compliance validation, and reporting.
- Automate security control assessment activities aligned to FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST RMF frameworks.
- Support SA&A / ATO processes, including evidence collection, artifact generation, and compliance tracking.
- Develop and maintain scripts, workflows, and pipelines to automate security operations and compliance checks.
- Support creation, refinement, and enforcement of cybersecurity SOPs, playbooks, and runbooks.
- Integrate automation solutions with SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management, and configuration management tools.
- Collaborate with system owners, ISSOs, and cybersecurity architects to ensure controls are implemented and documented correctly.
- Support audit readiness, continuous monitoring, and remediation tracking activities.
- Ensure alignment with NIST 800-53, 800-37, and 800-61 security control requirements.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and configuration baselines.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual security processes through automation and process improvement.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship Required.
- Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years' experience or Masters degree and 6 years' experience or Associate's degree and 10 years years' experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years' experience.
- Cybersecurity experience, including automation, compliance, or security engineering roles.
- Demonstrated experience supporting:
- Cyber automation initiatives
- FedRAMP and FISMA compliance programs
- NIST RMF implementation and assessment
- SA&A / ATO processes
- Development and enforcement of SOPs
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Experience automating continuous monitoring and compliance evidence collection.
- Familiarity with GRC platforms, compliance dashboards, or control tracking tools.
- Experience integrating security automation with cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
- Strong understanding of configuration management, vulnerability scanning, and control validation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting FAA, DOT, or other federal aviation systems.
- Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, or FedRAMP Practitioner.
- Experience working in regulated federal environments.
- Familiarity with SOAR platforms, security orchestration, and policy-as-code solutions.
- Experience modernizing manual compliance workflows through DevSecOps practices.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust architectures and automated security enforcement.
