Overview

i3 is searching for a Palantir Developer to support the Missile Defense Agency Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) effort. The Palantir Developer will work with mission partners and end-users to design, build, and maintain solutions on the Palantir platform. This role focuses on leveraging the full suite of Palantir tools to integrate data, build analytical applications, and enhance mission-critical workflows. This position is located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with stakeholders and customers to understand requirements and develop mission-focused solutions and applications within the Palantir platform.
- Satisfy requirements, meet project completion dates, and perform quality assurance testing for developed products.
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to integrate data from various sources (e.g., SQL databases, APIs, flat files) into the Palantir Ontology.
- Build software by using the Palantir platform (Foundry/Gotham), as well as modify data structures and enhance platform performance.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code (primarily Python/PySpark and SQL) to maintain high standards of quality, performance, and security.
- Work closely with UI/UX designers to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces using Palantir Workshop, Slate, or other application-building tools.
- Identify and resolve bugs, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks in existing Palantir applications and data pipelines.
- Continuously optimize application and pipeline performance, responsiveness, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with QA engineers to ensure the delivery of high-quality, bug-free solutions.
- Ensure compliance with MDA Software Assurance policies and agile methodologies.
- Leverage the Palantir platform to modernize current legacy applications and migrate them to the hybrid cloud service provider environment.
- Create, review, and maintain software user and training documentation.
- Participate in sprint reviews and system demos as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in data engineering, data analysis, or software development.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience developing solutions with Palantir Foundry is preferred. Experience should include building data pipelines, working with the Ontology, and creating applications (e.g., Workshop).
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle; Experience in the analysis, design, development, and testing of enterprise-scale data applications.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, and/or GitLab CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
- Strong understanding of how to implement solutions with multiple, disparate data sources.
- Active Secret clearance required. Must be able to maintain the security clearance required for this position.
- Must reside within a 75-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL or be willing to relocate prior to start date.
- Ability to reliably commute to the office as business needs dictate.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Knowledge/Skills
- Strong preference for candidates with prior experience supporting the MDA or missile test data environments, including familiarity with data flow, system integration, or analysis processes unique to test missions.
- Strong understanding of data management principles, including ingestion, parsing, cataloging, and metadata validation.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with scripting languages such as Python or R for data preparation and analysis.
- Working knowledge of metadata standards, data dictionaries, and validation procedures.
- Experience developing dashboards and visual reports in Power BI or Tableau.
- Ability to analyze data quality and performance metrics to identify process bottlenecks or anomalies.
- Strong communication skills; capable of translating technical data findings for non-technical audiences and leadership.
- Understanding of data governance policies, retention schedules, and secure handling of classified information.
- Collaborative and analytical mindset with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and adept at managing multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment.
