Position Description & Qualifications
SERCO is seeking a Command & Control (C2) Operator / Watchstander to support the Joint Staff J7 program in Suffolk, Virginia. This position supports a unique Joint Staff capability responsible for day-to-day operations and exercise-related, real-time monitoring, situational awareness, and operational support within a Command and Control (C2) environment.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain/transfer an U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
The C2 Operator / Watchstander plays a critical role in maintaining mission readiness by ensuring timely reporting, coordination, and execution of operational tasks. This is a watchstander position requiring shift work during exercises and mission-driven events in support of 24/7 operations.

In this role, you will:
- Maintain continuous watch coverage and ensure situational awareness across all assigned systems, missions, and operational activities.
- Monitor, analyze, and report operational information and events in accordance with established procedures and timelines.
- Receive, process, and disseminate operational updates, taskings, and notifications to appropriate stakeholders.
- Support incident response activities by documenting events, escalating issues, and coordinating with leadership and external partners as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs, trackers, and reporting tools.
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and security requirements to maintain operational integrity.
- Participate in shift change briefs, mission updates, and team coordination meetings.
- Assist with recurring operational reviews, quality assurance checks, and continuous watchfloor improvements.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- An active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of three (3) years of experience operating the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) family of systems (e.g., GCCS-J, GCCS-M).
- Experience as a watch lead or work center lead is highly desirable.
- To demonstrate the ability to support real-time operations in a command center or watchfloor environment.
- Experience utilizing C2 systems, mission applications, and operational communication platforms.
- To be familiar with Common Operational Picture (COP) and Information Management (IM) processes.
- Experience with operational reporting, incident documentation, and command center tracking tools.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic networking concepts to support periodic C2 system software and hardware updates.
- The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays in support of 24/7 operations and mission events.
- The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-tempo environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
- The ability to travel occasionally in support of exercise planning (25%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military, defense contractor, or government operations center experience.
- Experience with Common Operational Picture (COP) Synchronization Tools (CST) and Integrated Imagery and Intelligence (I3) applications.
- Experience utilizing Agile Client software as a GCCS workstation for track and database management.
- Familiarity with Joint Range Extension (JRE) for Tactical Data Link (TADIL) coordination and data forwarding.
- Knowledge of Communication Management Web (CMW) for building and managing communications.
- Experience utilizing various forms of operational chat tools.
- Experience with GCCS and intelligence systems operations, including the Common Intelligence Picture (CIP), COP/Information Management (IM), and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems.
- CompTIA Security+ (CE) certification.
- Current TS/SCI clearance.
