Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Human Resources Manager 2 to become part of our Engineering HR leadership team supporting a portion of the Engineering Air Dominance Division in a functional facing leadership role. The position will be full-time, on-site and located at either our El Segundo, CA or Palmdale, CA location.

This key manager role reports to the Aeronautics Systems (AS) HR Director 1 for Engineering for the Air Dominance Division. The selected candidate will be the primary strategic HR Manager for the a client group in the Engineering Air Dominance Division and will lead a team of HR Business Partners responsible for the development and implementation of HR strategy, leading human capital programs and core processes across the Engineering organization (including, but not limited to, talent assessment and development, performance management, employee relations, total rewards, succession planning and talent pipeline development, organization effectiveness and leadership development).

We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Human Resources Leader to lead an HR team and drive human capital and technical development strategies across our complex, matrixed organization. Acting as a trusted partner to senior engineering leadership, the ideal candidate will possess the proven ability to coach at the executive level, influence change, and build collaborative partnerships that drive organizational performance in the rapidly evolving organization.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Strategic Partnership: Serve as the primary HR strategic HR Manager and consultant to Engineering leadership, aligning people strategy with business objectives and positioning the organization to meet long term vision and strategy.
  • Organizational Transformation: Drive change management initiatives, fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Talent Strategy & Development: Develop and execute comprehensive talent strategies that align to business objectives.
  • Influence & Coaching: Provide executive coaching and influence decision-making across all levels of the organization to support business transformation.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Lead complex, cross-functional HR projects and initiatives (e.g., workforce planning, compensation, diversity & inclusion) from inception to completion.
  • People Leadership: Provide day-to-day people leadership of a geographically diverse HR team and create an environment that accelerates development of HR talent; apply rigorous knowledge management to capture learning, drive continuous improvement, and enhance employee engagement.


Successful candidates will demonstrate the following capabilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven capability to lead within a large, matrixed environment, performing with a growth mindset, and managing through ambiguity and continuous change.
  • Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build strong, credible relationships with senior stakeholders to influence direction. Establish strong business relationships with client leadership teams and create effective partnerships across Human Resources, Centers of Excellence (COE's) including compensation, employee relations, legal, organization effectiveness, Business Management, and Sector Functions.
  • Functional Breadth: A depth and breadth of knowledge across HR functions to include talent acquisition, talent management, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, and compensation.
  • Communication: Superb communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex people strategies to executive leadership.
  • Agility & Drive: A progressive thinker capable of managing multiple, complex tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. be a proactive, innovative partner who can navigate ambiguity and collaboratively drive results in a high-impact, fast-paced technical environment.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree AND 7 years of related Human Resources experience that includes a background in progressive HR roles and project management, OR a Master's degree AND 5 years of related Human Resources experience that includes a background in progressive HR roles and project management
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet business needs
  • Must be willing and able to travel 25% of the time


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business, Human Resource Management, Organization Development, Industrial Psychology, Management, or related field
  • More than 2 years of formal leadership experience managing direct reports
  • Experience working with a matrix or homeroom environment
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or engineering is preferred
  • Experience with supporting a large, California-based, employee population including both exempt and non-exempt employees


Primary Level Salary Range: $133,100.00 - $199,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
