The HR Specialist provides human resources and payroll support for a government program - ensuring compliance with federal regulations, agency policies, and contractual requirements. This role supports the full employee lifecycle in a fast-paced environment and works closely with employes, managers, and program leadership to maintain accurate records, adapt to evolving directives, and support positive employee engagement. The position also supports payroll-related functions and high-volume employee inquiries.

This role supports the full employee lifecycle in a fast-paced environment and works closely with employes, managers, and program leadership to maintain accurate records, adapt to evolving directives, and support positive employee engagement. The position also supports payroll-related functions and high-volume employee inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes in accordance with government and agency-specific requirements
- Maintain, verify, and audit personnel records to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist with timekeeping, payroll processing support, and benefits administration in accordance with government policies
- Demonstrate working knowledge of payroll systems to review, validate, and resolve payroll-related issues - and play a role in the triaging of these tickets.
- Respond effectively to shifting priorities, changing policies, and updated government directives
- Collaborate with program leadership on employee engagement initiatives and workforce planning
- Track and document HR actions within government and internal HR systems
Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret Clearance Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of employee/candidate engagement experience.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, compliance, and records management
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Demonstrated adaptability to changing policies, procedures, and directives
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of government HR and payroll systems, platforms, and reporting tools
- Payroll experience, including use of payroll systems and resolving employee pay inquiries
- Experience supporting government programs or contracts
- Experience working in a high-volume, compliance-driven environment
