VDI/VMware Cloud Foundation Engineer – multiple Sites
Location: Onsite at bases (Alaska, Japan, Korea)
Duration: Project-based (multi-site rollout, phased deployments)

Overview
We are seeking a senior VDI/VMware engineer to support the deployment and migration of secure Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments across six bases. The role focuses on delivering VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 9) and Omnissa Horizon VDI platforms integrated with HPE storage, supporting 200–500 users per site within a global Cloud Pod Architecture. You will be responsible for validating infrastructure, deploying VCF workload domains, implementing Horizon components, and supporting site cutovers from legacy VDI platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Validate compute, network, storage, and security readiness at each site
• Deploy and configure VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 9) workload domains
• Implement vSphere clusters with HA/DRS and distributed switching
• Integrate HPE storage (iSCSI / NFS / FC) with VDI clusters
• Deploy and configure Omnissa Horizon components:
o Connection Servers
o Unified Access Gateways (UAG)
o App Volumes
o Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM)
o FSLogix profile containers
• Configure Avi Load Balancer for Horizon services
• Build and deploy standardized Windows VDI base images (Instant Clones, vGPU-enabled)
• Create desktop pools and validate user access and performance
• Execute acceptance testing and support production cutovers
• Migrate users from legacy SIPR VDI environments to new platforms
• Produce as-built documentation and support knowledge transfer sessions
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong VMware experience: vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, DRS, HA
• Hands-on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) deployment experience
• Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon) design and implementation
• Experience with:
o App Volumes
o DEM
o FSLogix
o UAG
• Storage integration experience (HPE preferred; iSCSI/NFS/FC)
• Networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing, MTU, firewall coordination
• Active Directory integration and GPO configuration
• Experience in DoD / classified environments (STIGs, IA controls)
• Ability to support onsite deployment windows and travel as required
Nice to Have
• NVIDIA vGPU configuration and licensing experience
• Avi Load Balancer experience
• Prior SIPRNet or classified enclave deployments
• Large multi-site VDI rollouts / Cloud Pod Architecture
