Duties

  • You will serve as a Technician and Fleet Service Representative (FSR) for the NSWC PHD Surveillance Radar Division providing expert technical support for U.S. Navy radar and combat systems.
  • You will ensure operational readiness, sustainment, and modernization of these complex systems across multiple fleet concentration areas.
  • You will serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Fleet Service Representative (FSR), delivering advanced technical assistance, troubleshooting, and maintenance for designated U.S. Navy radar systems.
  • You will plan and execute technical support missions and work plans with minimal supervision, operating effectively as an individual or as a key member of an Integrated Process Team (IPT).
  • You will conduct root cause analysis of complex electronic system failures, identify critical issues and implementing effective corrective actions to restore full operational capability.
  • You will manage the full life-cycle sustainment of designated radar systems, including the evaluation and implementation of essential Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
  • You will develop and present formal technical reports, briefings, and documentation to diverse audiences, including senior technical and programmatic personnel.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing expert technical assistance, troubleshooting, and maintenance for Navy radar systems, utilizing root cause analysis to resolve complex electronic failures. Applying expertise in radar electronics, with hands-on experience supporting US Navy Radar Systems, naval vessels, and their integrated combat and training systems. Specialized technical knowledge of the AN/SPY radar family is highly desired.

The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12.
