PRODUCTION MACHINERY MECHANIC

Duties

• You will repair, maintain, install, and overhaul a variety of industrial productions machinery, equipment and facilities.
• You will investigate machinery/equipment malfunctions after receiving information as to the probable nature of the problem.
• You will install/relocate new and existing machinery/equipment and related components and accessories.
• You will use a wide variety of hand, portable, and power actuated tools.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A PRODUCTION MACHINERY MECHANIC, WG-5350-10 without more than normal supervision such as:

• Performing a variety of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair related activities on a range of fixed and semi-fixed mechanical systems;
• Disassembling and repairing standard and numerically controlled mechanical systems such as that used for machining, metal forming, pipe, forge, and foundry work;
• Installing, replacing, adjusting, and setting various regulating or safety devices such as meters, gages, governs, and automatic alarms; AND
• Reading, interpreting, and applying mechanical and electro-mechanical blueprints, drawings, schematics, and specifications. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
