POSITION SUMMARY
NTG is seeking a highly skilled Virtualization / VMware Administrator to join our team supporting the USCENTCOM CITS contract in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, and ongoing management of enterprise virtualization infrastructure, with a focus on VMware technologies. You will support mission-critical operations by maintaining a secure, high-performance virtual environment that includes virtual servers, desktops, and networking components across multiple physical and operational locations. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth technical expertise, a proactive approach to system optimization, and a commitment to supporting the warfighter's mission through reliable and scalable IT services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, deploy, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines across multiple sites.
• Monitor and optimize virtual infrastructure performance, resource utilization, and system availability.
• Implement and manage VMware networking components, including distributed switches and VLANs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware technologies, ensuring minimal downtime, to include performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and virtual machine management.
• Collaborate with IT teams to design integrated infrastructure solutions aligned with command requirements.
• Mentor junior administrators to enhance team expertise in virtualization technologies.
• Develop and maintain documentation for virtualization architecture, processes, and procedures.
• Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual machines and infrastructure components.
• Evaluate and recommend new VMware technologies to enhance system performance and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with DoD security policies, regulations, and best practices.
• Supporting projects to enhance the security, efficiency, or capability of the virtualized environment.
• Collaborating with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience managing VMware vSphere infrastructure.
• Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP).
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
Desired Qualifications
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP).
• ITIL 4 Foundation Certification.
• Experience with VMware Horizon for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
• Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible or PowerCLI.
• Experience with USCENTCOM and understanding of its mission and IT environment.
Skills
• Proficiency in VMware technologies, including ESXi, vCenter Server, vSAN, and vSphere Networking.
• Strong understanding of virtualization concepts and practices.
• Excellent documentation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a high-stakes environment.
