Description of Duties:

The Senior Network Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This role provides engineering, sustainment, and operational support for complex mission-critical networks supporting MDA Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) systems.

The candidate will:
  • Work in close coordination with project managers and service area representatives to plan, design, and implement network engineering solutions.
  • Review technical documentation to ensure engineering quality and maintain responsibility for assigned projects and tasks.
  • Perform design review, configuration, installation, testing, sustainment, and validation of IT network and boundary protection devices and systems.
  • Provide daily hands-on operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, restoral, and testing of C2BMC networks.
  • Conduct site surveys and support the development of technical network solutions.
  • Configure, install, test, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, gateways, and boundary protection devices.
  • Collect and validate network data, services, and device performance metrics.
  • Maintain technical expertise across network and computer hardware and software interconnections, interfaces, and protocols.
  • Perform technical validation of network designs in accordance with industry best practices and applicable DoD policies and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate team leadership, mentoring, or instructional capabilities within an engineering environment.
  • Recommended technical expertise includes Cisco, Juniper, and KG-175 TACLANE devices.
  • This position requires professionalism, technical depth, and the ability to operate effectively in a secure government environment.
  • This role does not provide entry-level training or clearance sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance. Exceptionally qualified candidates eligible for an interim within 90 days of hire may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must have 8 or more years of general full-time professional experience (advanced education may reduce this requirement)
  • Must have 6 or more years of directly related experience with enterprise networking technologies, including Internet Protocols (DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL), firewall configuration and troubleshooting, multiple network architectures (LAN, WAN, VxLAN, SDN), and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) infrastructures
  • Must have hands-on experience with Cisco or Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls, including OSPF, NAT, SNMP, Syslog, VRF, and network timing systems
  • Must have 1 or more years of experience in a management, leadership, or senior technical role
  • Must be proficient with IP addressing, subnetting, and DNS
  • Must possess, or obtain within 120 days of start, a DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification such as CompTIA Security+
  • Must be able to support after-hours events as required
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, an active DoD Secret security clearance

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) mission and MDA systems or networks
  • Experience with PIM, multicast, and Type I encryption devices
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) certification
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and enterprise network management solutions
  • Experience with SolarWinds Orion network management software
  • Experience with VMware virtual computing environments
  • Experience creating technical diagrams using Microsoft Visio
  • Understanding of systems and IT lifecycle frameworks such as Systems Engineering lifecycle, ITIL, or similar methodologies

Compensation:

Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,000 annually. Final compensation is based on experience, education, and directly relevant certifications.
