Description
The Digital Modernization Group at Leidos is seeking a people-focused Compute and Virtualization Operations Manager to lead a team of talented engineers. This role is pivotal in supporting an extensive digital modernization program for DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a strong background in managing technical teams and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. While this is primarily a management position, a solid technical understanding of the team's domain is essential for success.
You will be responsible for leading key areas within our Domain Services section, including the Server, Infoblox, and Active Directory/Group Policy (AD/GPO) teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of approximately 30 systems engineers, providing clear direction, regular feedback, and career development opportunities.
- Manage all aspects of team performance, including resource allocation, workload prioritization, and ensuring deliverables are met on time and with high quality.
- Act as the primary leadership interface between the engineering team, DISA leadership, and customer stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives.
- Champion a collaborative and effective working environment, building strong relationships across all organizational groups.
- Guide the team in translating customer roadmaps and strategic goals into actionable engineering tasks and user stories.
- Oversee the team's agile and sustainment activities, ensuring that engineering resources are effectively utilized to meet program requirements.
- Implement and encourage participation in a flexible cross-training program to build team resiliency and individual skillsets.
- Develop and present high-level briefings on team performance, project status, and strategic initiatives to key stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of prior relevant experience; additional, specific years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven and significant experience in a people management role, with a track record of successfully leading, coaching, and developing technical teams.
- Strong foundational knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure to effectively manage technical engineers. Must be conversant in:
- Server Administration concepts (Windows/Linux).
- Network services, specifically DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) using tools like Infoblox.
- Active Directory Domain Services and Group Policy (AD/GPO) management.
- Server Administration concepts (Windows/Linux).
- Demonstrated ability to foster innovation and delegate complex work assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to operate with appreciable latitude.
- Experience contributing to performance metrics and managing team deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal leadership or management training.
- Experience developing and managing IT operations best practices (e.g., ITIL framework).
- Experience working in a DISA or DoD environment.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps leadership principles.
- Technical certifications that demonstrate foundational knowledge, such as:
- Infoblox Certified Core Administrator (ICCA)
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Server+
- Infoblox Certified Core Administrator (ICCA)
