Job Description
The Platform Engineer – Cloud – Azure will support a large U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) program within a highly regulated government environment. This role is responsible for designing, supporting, and maintaining secure platform infrastructure hosted in Microsoft Azure, with a strong focus on Linux-based systems and certificate management.

The Platform Engineer will work closely with cloud, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure platform reliability, security, and operational readiness. This role requires hands-on experience with Linux administration, certificate lifecycle management, PKI, automation, and monitoring, in addition to Azure cloud infrastructure support.

This position is onsite in the Washington, DC area and requires an active Public Trust clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities
Support and maintain Linux-based platform infrastructure (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) hosted in Microsoft Azure
Manage and support certificate management and PKI environments, including TLS/SSL certificates
Perform certificate lifecycle activities including issuance, renewal, automation, expiration monitoring, and troubleshooting
Support certificate trust chains, keystores, and certificate-based authentication mechanisms
Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with DOJ and federal security standards
Design and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable cloud-based platform solutions using Azure services
Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure to ensure performance, availability, and security
Implement and support infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, and Azure DevOps
Monitor platform health, system logs, and certificate status using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tools
Troubleshoot system-level, certificate-related, and security-related issues
Support automation of infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and operational processes
Develop and maintain technical documentation for platform configurations, automation processes, and operational procedures


Required Experience / Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
7+ years of experience in platform or infrastructure engineering
Strong Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
Hands-on experience with certificate management and PKI, including:
– TLS/SSL certificates
– Certificate lifecycle management
– Automation of renewals and deployments
– Monitoring certificate expiration
– Trust chains and keystores
Experience supporting secure or regulated environments (Public Trust or similar)
Experience supporting infrastructure hosted in Microsoft Azure
Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, Python, PowerShell)
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM templates, Azure DevOps)
Familiarity with monitoring and log aggregation tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Splunk, etc.)
Strong understanding of platform security fundamentals including IAM, encryption, and network security
Ability to troubleshoot complex system-level and security-related issues


Nice-to-Haves
Azure certifications (Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent)
Experience supporting government or DOJ environments
Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab
Familiarity with DevSecOps or security-focused platform environments


Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)

Pay & Benefits Summary
Up to $61/hr W2
