Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Technician - Level 2 or Level 3 - to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Lab Test organization. This position is in Melbourne, FL.
In this role, you will be performing a variety of tasks that will be done in a Mechanical fabrication and assembly area. Working with a team or individually in a fast-paced R&D fabrication environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Primary Level Salary Range: $48,400.00 - $80,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $57,500.00 - $95,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

In this role, you will be performing a variety of tasks that will be done in a Mechanical fabrication and assembly area. Working with a team or individually in a fast-paced R&D fabrication environment.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Maintaining the Fabrication space including 5's and tool control.
- Assembling and building details and sub-assemblies.
- Supporting development engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of mechanical systems.
- Performs part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.
- Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
- Conducting routine testing, troubleshooting, prototype building, and developmental engineering tasks.
- Performing operational tests to ensure conformance with design specifications.
- Diagnosing and isolating malfunctions down to the component level.
- Conducting engineering tests and collecting data.
- Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
- Aligns parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
- Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at a Mechanical Technician - Level 2 OR Mechanical Technician - Level 3 level based on the qualifications below.
Mechanical Technician - Level 2
- High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance.
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs, prior to the start of employment
- Must be willing to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and off-shifts.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain the appropriate medical clearance(s), as defined per the customer's contracting requirements, for the duration of your employment.
- Ability to wear a respirator or other safety gear
- Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 50lbs and work with hazardous-materials, in accordance with safety regulations.
- Ability to work from engineering drawings or models.
- Demonstrated experience with mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and/or fabrication.

- High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.
