Northrop Grumman's Propulsion Systems organization is seeking a Sr. Principal Computer Systems Architect /Staff Computer Systems Architect to support the development, deployment, and sustainment of commercial and custom software applications used across Operations, Process Engineering, and Quality Engineering.
This role supports critical manufacturing and engineering environments and contributes to future technology initiatives, including mobile solutions and emerging capabilities such as augmented reality. The position is based on-site in Promontory, Utah, and works closely with cross-functional engineering, operations, and IT teams.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Configure and support applications used in manufacturing and engineering operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable software solutions

- Troubleshoot, test, and resolve software defects and operational issues
- Support Agile development practices, including iterative development and continuous improvement
- Provide technical guidance and best-practice recommendations for managing software solutions at scale

- Develop and maintain technical, operational, and user-level documentation

Basic Qualifications
Level 4
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related STEM field with 8 or more years of professional experience
or
Master's degree in Computer Science or related STEM field with 6 or more years of professional experience - Demonstrated experience in Java software development
- Experience working in Windows and Linux/UNIX operating environments
- Experience supporting the full software development lifecycle
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaborative development tools
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, operational environment with changing priorities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
Level 5
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related STEM field with 12 or more years of professional experience
or
Master's degree in Computer Science or related STEM field with 10 or more years of professional experience - Demonstrated experience in Java software development
- Experience working in Windows and Linux/UNIX operating environments
- Experience supporting the full software development lifecycle
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaborative development tools
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, operational environment with changing priorities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance .
Preferred Qualifications
- Full-stack or service-based Java development experience
- Familiarity with web technologies, APIs, and microservices concepts
- Experience with HTML, HTML 5, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript, TypeScript, JSON
- Experience with frameworks such as React or Angular
- Experience with relational databases
- IBM WebSphere and Liberty Application Server administration
- Exposure to DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
- Experience supporting enterprise or large-scale software systems
- Exposure to manufacturing, engineering, or operational systems
- System integration experience
- Network Protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/FTPS, TCP/IP)
