The Senior Software Developer / Engineer will provide expert-level software engineering support to PMA-205, leading the design, development, integration, and sustainment of software for Navy and Marine Corps aviation mission systems. This role requires deep hands-on coding experience combined with technical leadership to plan, guide, review, and manage software development efforts across complex, software-intensive systems. The position supports research, development, and modernization of mission computing capabilities and requires the ability to write high-quality software code, establish development standards, and oversee the execution of software engineering activities in a DoD acquisition environment.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $110,323.71-$165,485.57 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.

Duties:
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain software for PMA-205 mission computing and aviation systems
- Write, test, debug, and optimize production-quality software code
- Lead and manage software development activities, including task planning, technical direction, and code reviews
- Define and enforce software development standards, coding practices, and configuration management processes
- Support software architecture design, interface definition, and integration with hardware and networked systems
- Guide and review the work of other developers to ensure technical quality and compliance
- Support research and development efforts for new software capabilities and technology insertion
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including software design descriptions and implementation artifacts
- Support software verification and validation (V&V), integration testing, and acceptance testing
- Collaborate with Government engineers, OEMs, and contractors to resolve complex technical issues
- Support cybersecurity and RMF-related software requirements, including secure coding practices
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field
Required Experience:
- 12+ years of professional software development experience
- Demonstrated ability to write, maintain, and debug complex software code
- Experience leading or managing software development efforts and guiding other developers
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python, C#, or similar)
- Experience with software lifecycle processes, configuration management, and version control
- Familiarity with DoD or aerospace software development environments
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- Prior experience supporting NAVAIR or PMA-205 programs
- Experience with software-intensive or mission computing systems
- Familiarity with Agile and/or DevSecOps development methodologies
- Experience with secure software development and RMF compliance
- Experience integrating software with avionics, embedded, or distributed systems
