Your work will directly enable data scientists, analysts, and product teams to deliver data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions at the national level.

In this role, you will be a technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-scale data pipelines and infrastructure. Your work will directly enable data scientists, analysts, and product teams to deliver data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions at the national level.
What You'll Do
As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will:
- Design and build scalable, production-grade data pipelines on the Databricks Unified Data Analytics Platform
- Engineer and optimize batch and streaming data workflows, including Kafka-based streaming pipelines
- Lead development of robust ETL processes to improve data quality, availability, and scalability
- Design and support data ingestion from multiple source systems, including APIs and event-driven architectures
- Architect and maintain AWS-based data infrastructure to support analytics and product use cases
- Optimize data storage, performance, and reliability across large-scale datasets
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to enable advanced product analytics
- Work within an Agile software development environment to deliver iterative, high-impact solutions
- Serve as a senior technical contributor and subject matter expert in data engineering best practices
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
- On-site support required in Washington, DC
- U.S. Citizenship required (U.S. citizens or dual citizens only)
- Public Trust clearance required or higher
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering
- 10+ years of experience designing and implementing ETL pipelines
- 10+ years of experience working with Apache Kafka or streaming data platforms
- 10+ years of experience designing AWS cloud architectures for data systems
- 10+ years of experience using the Databricks Unified Data Analytics Platform
- Strong experience supporting both batch and real-time data processing
- Experience working across multiple source systems and complex data ecosystems
- Proven ability to operate in Agile development environments
- Experience supporting consumer or product-focused analytics platforms preferred
- Experience in government or regulated environments is a plus
- Lead data engineering for a highly visible, consumer-facing federal digital product
- Work with modern, enterprise-scale data platforms and architectures
- Collaborate with senior data scientists, engineers, and product leaders
- Make a direct, measurable impact through data-driven federal decision-making
