Blu Omega is looking for a Nerdio AVD Cloud Engineer to joion a dynamic team dedicated to delivering secure, compliant, and scalable Azure Virtual Desktop solutions.

As a Nerdio AVD Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building, automating, and operating enterprise-grade virtual desktop environments, enabling mission-critical operations in regulated environments. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale deployments, migrations, and modernization initiatives that directly impact end-user experience and organizational efficiency.

Clearance Needed: Ability to obtain and maintain CMS Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities:
  • Implement, manage, and automate Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) deployments using Nerdio Manager for Enterprise, including host pools, scaling strategies, and image management.
  • Design and configure AVD environments integrating with Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, FSLogix, and Intune.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates, and PowerShell to support scalable and repeatable deployments.
  • Execute migrations from on-premises VDI/VMware/Citrix to AVD, leveraging Nerdio tools, Azure Migrate, and best practices.
  • Configure secure networking, Zero-Trust access, and hybrid connectivity with Azure VNet, Firewall, VPN, ExpressRoute.
  • Manage identity and access with Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, and Nerdio's role-based controls.
  • Integrate security tools such as Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and Azure Security policies into Operations.
  • Automate compliance, performance monitoring, auto-scaling, and patching to meet standards like FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, optimize user experience, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with architects, security engineers, and stakeholders on architecture reviews and security documentation.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience building and operating cloud workloads in Azure, with at least 2 years focused on Azure Virtual Desktop and Nerdio Manager.
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code: Bicep (required), Terraform (plus), ARM templates.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing AVD environments at scale, including host pools and automation.
  • Deep understanding of Azure networking (VNet, Private Link, Firewall, VPN, ExpressRoute) and remote desktop protocols.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft security and management tools: Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, Sentinel, Log Analytics, Intune, FSLogix.
  • Scripting expertise in PowerShell (required), with knowledge of Python or Bash as a plus.
  • Experience with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53, CMS ARS or related standards.
  • Prior experience working on healthcare or CMS-related virtual desktop projects is a strong plus.

Nice to Have:
  • Additional Microsoft certifications including AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500, or related.
  • Familiarity with FSLogix, Windows 365, Azure Health Data Services, or other EUC technologies.
  • Experience with hybrid/on-premises extensions, auto-scaling, and cost optimization in Nerdio environments.
  • Prior work on CMS contracts such as SPARC, ESIM, EPMO, or XLC.

Salary Range: $97,458 - $165,789
Our final salary offer will be based on several factors, including depth of technical skills, work experience, education, certifications, and clearance
