The Theater Command and Control and Homeland Defense Department leads projects and initiatives directly related to the overall Homeland / Air Defense mission. This includes the technology and operational aspects of several sensors and command and control systems in response to the Theater and Homeland air threats (aircraft, cruise missiles, and uncrewed aircraft systems). The department activities work across all aspects of the joint engagement sequence to decrease response time and improve mission effectiveness. Across the department, our goal is to ensure sponsor's ability to rapidly identify, characterize, and respond to threats to Air Operations. The department-within the Integrated All-Domain Effects Division is looking to grow our team and are seeking highly talented and motivated candidates with strong technical skills in these areas. designing, prototyping, evaluating, testing and fielding solutions in the following technology areas:

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide enterprise systems engineering and architecture technical leadership, strategic-level analyses and recommendations, expertise and counsel to the Government sponsor team primarily supporting Air Force Air Operations.
- Become a focal point for the government for technical issues and leverage MITRE's resources.
- Define capability and interoperability gaps, overlaps, opportunities, and constraints.
- Foster and develop innovative, transformational solutions to sensing related challenges and capability gaps for both fielded and developmental systems.
- Develop and utilize Python or MATLAB code for sensor design development, test and evaluation, performance modeling at the system and sub-system level.
- Evaluate technologies, identify risks, and develop alternate solutions.
- Designing and prototyping sensor algorithms and sensor signal processing solutions.
- Develop and evaluate sensor requirements for both fielded and developmental systems.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience in EE, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics.
- Demonstrated experience performing systems engineering activities such as: requirements development, engineering, and analysis; system decomposition and design; analysis planning and performance; test/verification planning and performance, system integration.
- Ability to identify and implement model-based architecture and engineering methods and standards. Understanding of SysML, UML, and/or UAPF.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills.
- Strong technical skills related to sensor technologies and methods.
- Experience with signal processing and algorithm development.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use programming environments such as MATLAB or Python to develop engineering models and analyze data.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts simply and concisely, making needed connections, and bridging across domains as appropriate.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly in technical terms with both engineering staff and project leadership.
- Strong writing and briefing skills.
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Systems Engineering, other Engineering disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Computer), Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Experience composing concepts of operations, use cases, workflow models, and other relevant artifacts that capture the mission and intent of a system.
- Experience building systems models, conducting analysis, and providing recommendations within a team environment on multiple projects.
- Experience working with Department of War sponsors.
