Help
  • You will provide explosive safety and ordnance logistics policy support to the Commander, Military Sealift Command (COMSC).
  • You will perform AAandE Explosive Safety duties and inspections in a world-wide command and fleet that provides strategic and operational sealift to meet national defense objectives.
  • You will provide explosive safety and ordnance logistics support for the Military Sealift Command (MSC) force necessary to achieve assigned missions.
  • You will ensure that MSC ships and shore facilities handle and store ordnance and weapons in accordance with current regulatory requirements and instructions from higher authority.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience providing on-site maintenance and operation training for installed shipboard arms, ammunition and explosives (AA&E) magazine sprinkler systems and explaining written recommendations to the Military Sealift Command (MSC) program manager and vessel master to continue or discontinue magazine sprinkler certification until a correction of any discrepancies and completion of satisfactory sprinkler system operational tests.
  • Experience inspecting explosive safety management programs, analyzing explosive safety inspection reports, incident reports, inventory records, and qualification and certification program records, installed shipboard AA&E sprinkler systems and other relevant data sources to identify systemic issues, provide feedback to the inspected unit for corrective action and track corrective action.
  • Experience conducting measurements, operational, and functional tests evaluating system effectiveness to meet established certification standards and directives and conducting visual assessments of installed shipboard AA&E sprinkler systems evaluating installation configuration and maintenance for the ability to prevent, identify, and mitigate fire hazards.
  • Experience advising program managers concerning AA&E stowage requirements necessary for compliance with higher authority and maintaining a database of discrepancies, assistance requests, and certifications.
  • Experience inspecting installed shipboard AA&E sprinkler systems for conformance to establish specifications through adherence to established magazine sprinkler tests, and corrective maintenance checks.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

The field work onboard ships and at shore stations is challenging and demanding requiring travel to various facilities to conduct, assist, inspect, and review of ordnance explosive operations.

The assignments and inspections require regular and recurring physical exertion such as prolonged walking, climbing, bending, crouching, and reaching as well as considerable agility and dexterity in shipboard environments.
