REPORTS TO: FLIGHT OPERATIONS TRAINING MANAGER

CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT

LOCATION: BLACKSTONE, VA

STATUS: FULL TIME

JOB SUMMARY:

The Standardization Maintenance Technician supports the initial build and maturation of the Maintenance Standardization function for Vanilla UAS Flight Operations. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring standardized maintenance policies, procedures, and practices to ensure safe, consistent, and compliant UAS operations.

The Standardization Maintenance Technician works closely with Maintenance, Flight Operations, and Training teams to support standard operating procedures (SOPs), assess adherence to established standards, and drive continuous improvement through audits, spot checks, data analysis, and corrective actions. Some travel is required to support operational sites and standardization activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development, review, and implementation of maintenance standardization policies, procedures, and SOPs supporting UAS flight operations
  • Assist in the stand-up and ongoing development of the Maintenance Standardization framework and function
  • Track organizational adherence to maintenance standardization through spot checks, audits, data collection, and evaluations
  • Support investigations related to maintenance discrepancies, procedural deviations, or standardization findings
  • Identify gaps in maintenance procedures or execution and recommend corrective actions to improve consistency and compliance
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Flight Operations, and Training teams to support standardized practices across all operational environments
  • Support development and delivery of maintenance-related training materials and standardization guidance
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready documentation related to maintenance standards, findings, and corrective actions
  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, or assessments asrequired
  • Travel to operational sites as necessary to support standardization, training, and oversight activities
  • Perform other duties as are necessary and/or required.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED required and 5+ years of relevant aviation experience, including Group3UAS operations or comparable aircraft operations
  • 2 years of experience in UAS maintenance standardization, quality, training, or oversight roles
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Demonstrated experience developing manuals, training materials, and operational or maintenance procedures for UAS operations
  • Ability to assess maintenance performance and identify trends, risks, and procedural gaps
  • Strong understanding of maintenance best practices, documentation standards, and procedural compliance
  • Strong written communication skills for SOPs, manuals, and audit documentation
  • E ffective verbal communication skills for collaboration and training support
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety, compliance, and standardization
  • Able to travel up to 50%


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of training or a degree in aviation, engineering, or a related field.
  • Military flight experience is highly desirable


  • Prior Department of Defense (DoD) or government contractor standardization experience
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification
  • Private Pilot License (PPL)

  • Ability to traverse manufacturing facility .
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, perceiving differences in wire cable colors, moving and/or lifting items such as ladders, tools, air tanks, test equipment and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds, working aloft; climbing ladders.
