Job Overview

The Unmanned Systems Acceptance Lead is responsible for leading a platform-specific final acceptance team for unmanned systems within the manufacturing and production environment. This role serves as the primary subject matter expert for functional and operational testing ensuring each system is complete, compliant, and mission-ready prior to delivery or operational use.

Essential Functions
  • Final Acceptance Authority - Serve as the final authority for system acceptance and readiness in the manufacturing environment, including all product quality compliance.
  • Checkout Process Ownership - Own, maintain, and continuously improve the quality process for executing the functional and operational testing within the manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Leadership - Train personnel for checkout and in-process inspection operations ensuring proper qualification to the system requirements.
  • System Compliance - Verify hardware complies with the released configuration baseline and software is provisioned in accordance with the released version authority.
  • Sub-System Functionality - Review process controls for avionics, flight control, GNSS / navigation, power distribution and propulsion, communication and datalink sub-systems.
  • As-Built Configuration Control - Capture all discrepancies, concessions, and deviation requests in a quality record package prior to final release of product.
  • Test and Development Liaison - Collaborate with engineering and flight test teams to facilitate the transition from design and development into production.
  • Cross Functional Support - Work with quality engineering to identify trends in first pass yield, rework, and late-stage defect identification to help drive improvements upstream.
  • Test Equipment Maintenance - Control all testing and provisioning equipment used within checkout operations, including configuration compliance, calibration and maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of UAV systems, including flight controls, navigation systems, sensors, and payloads.
  • Strong familiarity with software/firmware provisioning tools and controls (Linux is a plus).
  • Strong aircraft maintenance operations, including weight and balance, engine runs, flight control checks.
  • Strong Engineering drawing and technical data package understanding (ASME Y14.XXX)

Education / Certifications
  • HS/GED minimum required
  • Bachelor's Degree in aviation maintenance or related technical field highly preferred.
  • IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and J-STD-001 certification preferred

Experience
  • 8-10+ years of relative experience and knowledge of UAS flight systems and operations
  • Experience with software tools for flight planning, data analysis, and mission management
  • Developmental program experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a quality role within ISO9001/AS9100 environment is a plus
