The opportunity
We are looking for a Technical Architect within the US Government and Public Sector Technology Hub. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering solution designs and architectures for key initiatives hosted in primarily in a cloud hosted government platform, and considering re-use, scalability, and reliability in alignment with EY's mission and strategy.
You will develop relationships across the business and EY Technology to understand requirements, apply technical knowledge of solution and technical architecture to solve business problems and work closely with other architecture and development teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
In this role you will create reliable solution plans that include cost estimates and optimized delivery approaches by working with the business, multi-disciplinary teams including our peers in Technical Solution Management and Product Costing.
As a Technical Architect, your key responsibilities are:

You should be comfortable working with culturally diverse outsourced on/offshore team members which means you may be required to work outside of the normal working hours in your time zone to partner with other Client Technology staff globally. As a Technical Architect, your key responsibilities are:
- Providing Technical guidance & support to client engagements focusing on complex & innovative products and reusable assets within the context of Azure/Azure Gov Platform services
- Creating detailed Infrastructure and Engineering designs that account for the end-to-end technical solution of a system, in line with the business strategy and objectives and within the context of EY's technology environment and Azure/Azure Gov Platform services
- Ability to work across multiple projects with varied stakeholders. Setting architectural direction, you'll build consensus, mediate conflicts providing technical leadership and advisory services to the business. Anticipating needs and potential objections and helping to create an environment which solicits positive contributions from all participants: Solution and Technical Architects, engineering teams, product manager, project managers, product analysts, test and project teams, Information Security and Operations
- Demonstrating excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills that are required to operate as a leading member of global, distributed teams that deliver quality services and solutions
- Monitoring the progress and the quality of the project and reviews and develops due diligence to confirm the developed solution complies with architectural design
- Thorough understanding of Azure/Azure Gov (Gateways, Firewalls, Containers, ADO, etc.) architecture.
- Experience in architecting and designing technical solutions for Microsoft-centric solutions based on industry standards using (Azure) IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS capabilities.
- Experience with any claims-based authentication (SAML/OAuth/OIDC), MFA, JIT, and/or RBAC / Ping etc.
- Experience in data movement and transformation technologies
- Knowledge of cloud security controls including tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM, etc.
- Ability to adopt and relate new technologies to the set of problems we face at EY while adhering to security and other EY standards
- Good understanding of latest cloud computing and data technologies, business drivers, emerging computing trends, and deployment options
- Highly skilled in defining, designing, and developing distributed and scalable products and services, including reusable domain-specific microservices on multi-platform /hybrid clouds (such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
- Ability to navigate the EY organization to facilitate work beyond the immediate technical team
- Experience with Agile & DevSecOps methodologies

- Hands‑on expertise with Azure App Services, Azure Functions, API Management, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Logic Apps, and related integration services to build scalable, secure, and resilient applications.
- Ability to translate business and functional requirements into end‑to‑end application architectures, including user experience flows, API design, data models, integration patterns, and operational considerations.
- Strong understanding of performance optimization, resiliency, disaster recovery strategies, and application lifecycle management within Azure environments.
• Experience implementing secure application designs aligned with Zero Trust principles, including identity integration (AAD/Azure AD B2C), managed identities, RBAC, Key Vault usage, secret management, and compliance with US Gov Cloud security frameworks. - Proven ability to partner with engineering teams to guide application development, enforce architectural standards, and ensure adoption of DevSecOps practices in CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.).

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $85,200 to $159,300. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $102,200 to $181,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
- Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
