Description
SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in support of the Department of the Air Force's (DAF) Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure Processing Node (DIPN) Product Line Team. ABMS represents the DAF's cutting-edge initiative designed to enable flexible, next-generation command and control (C2) operations and to execute synchronized, multi-domain missions in the broader Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) framework.
The DIPN Product Line Team delivers foundational systems like the Deployable Digital Infrastructure (DDI) and Fixed Digital Infrastructure (FDI) to the warfighter, ensuring the availability of critical tools and systems in diverse operational environments. The DIPN IPAT Systems Engineer architects, designs, and develops integration and automation of applications onto a common platform and infrastructure utilizing modern DevSecOps and automation practices.

Job Responsibilities:
- Integrates a variety of familiar and unfamiliar technologies into orchestrated solutions.
- Analyzes gaps in technology solutions and designs paths to close them.
- Follows directions provided by the team leaders in implementation and scope.
- Develops and follows installation, integration, and test procedures.
- Automates manual procedures.
- Documents procedures in clear and unambiguous manner.
- Demonstrates work to a variety of audiences.
- Participates in and contributes to the team's Agile ceremonies, including daily scrum, Sprint and Program Increment planning, and retrospective meetings.
- Helps teammates to achieve success in their tasking.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 15 years of experience
- Cumulative 3 years minimum of leading and mentoring other developers and driving cross-team collaboration across product lifecycle and other disciplines.
- Secret Security Clearance.
Cumulative 10 years of experience with 5 years minimum of hands-on experience in each:
- Automating integration of systems using container technologies (Docker, Podman, Docker Compose/Podman Compose) under version control (e.g., Git) while utilizing IaC tools and frameworks (Terraform, Terragrunt, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible) for automation of server and OS deployments (PXE boot, DHCP, Kickstart).
- Develop automation with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and thoroughly test implementations.
- Linux systems administration and security as well as utilizing virtualization technologies (VMWare, KVM) and 3rd party software such as Nginx, Vault, CoreDNS, dnsmasq, Artifactory etc.
- Basic understanding of computer networks and related hardware, dns, etc.
- Host-based network management. (configuring network interfaces, firewalls, etc.)
- Reviews work and provide actionable feedback to teammates.
