Position Overview
Redhawk is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing team supporting a critical U.S. Navy enterprise platform. This mission-driven initiative is focused on transforming how the Department of the Navy (DON) enables, integrates, and operationalizes data at scale.
In this role, you will lead the design and development of modern data pipelines and analytics infrastructure that power enterprise decision-making. You’ll work across cloud, streaming, and data warehousing technologies to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions that directly impact DON operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipeline architectures.
Assemble and manage large, complex datasets that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements.
Identify, design, and implement process improvements, including:
Automating manual workflows
Optimizing data delivery
Redesigning infrastructure for performance and scalability
Build and support ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion from diverse sources.
Develop analytics and reporting tools that leverage data pipelines to deliver actionable insights into:
Operational efficiency
Performance metrics
Mission outcomes
Partner with stakeholders to troubleshoot data-related technical issues and support enterprise data needs.
Align data engineering solutions with business strategy and mission objectives.
Required Technical Experience
7+ years of experience in a Senior or Lead Data Engineer role.
Strong experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka preferred).
Understanding of data engineering within the ServiceNow platform.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, and/or GCP).
Experience working with:
Microservices architectures
CI/CD pipelines
Docker
DevOps principles
Strong AWS experience, including:
EC2
EMR
RDS
Redshift
Proficiency in object-oriented or functional programming languages, such as:
Python
Java
Scala
C++
Strong knowledge of data warehousing technologies (Snowflake preferred).
Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
Additional Qualifications
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to:
Translate business strategy into technical solutions
Build and leverage reusable engineering frameworks
